Matayaikon Chapter I - Subtle Signs
The streets of Amatsuku were bustling still in the late hours of the summer night. People were going about their normal lives, filled with work, education, recreation and relaxation. Of course, some people deal with more challenging things than others from time to time, but that's life. It's what they're fated to go through. Just like how friends were destined to meet, how a celebrity gets their big chance, or how people believe that their fate is written in the stars. However, the innocent people of Tokyo have no idea what really is pulling at the strings of their life.

The summer was always a time in their life that stayed the same for the two of them.  It wasn’t boring, nor was it repetitive.  The classic relaxing days full of endless sunshine and bright, sparkling water felt like heaven to the youthful trio.
One of Kari’s hobbies as the school year came to a close was to look out the large, over-sized window of her school, restlessly moving in her seat. The next morning, as the sun shined in through the window, the younger sibling stirred from her sleep. She let out a loud yawn before realizing who was next to her: Hayato, who was still fast asleep. She prayed what she had said the previous evening wouldn't happen. She hadn't a clue what she would do if he knew or remembered anything.
Prying his arms off of her waist, she slid out of the bed, reminiscing about the same routine she used to do every morning as a child.
She would feel lonely in her own bedroom, seeing as she was afraid of the dark, and, like any othe Matayaikon, 4-Knowledge.

Her head felt light, as she slowly pushed herself up from the surface below her. She rubbed the back of her head, sighed, and moaned out a somewhat comprehensible sentence.
“What kind of dream was that?”
“Dream? Ha! Look up, flat-chested.”
She froze. The voice sounded extremely familiar.
‘There’s absolutely no way.’
Carefully inching her eyes upward, they laid upon the pair from earlier. They were now inside Makaiei’s bedroom, looking around and examining some of her things. The onc Matayaikon, 3-Subconscious.

The thought of missing the rest of her classes and getting into serious trouble was at the back of Makaiei's mind as she darted towards the abandoned warehouse. If she could solve the mystery of the missing students, then she would finally be recognized as more than "Hayato-senpai's sister" or "the daughter of the Hoshikos." A smirk spread across her lips as she thought about all of the good things that could come out of this.

Finally finding her way to the entrance of the warehouse, she stood before it, staring in awe. It was quite huge, quite the mess, and quite scary lo Matayaikon, 2-Metamorphosis.
